Nektarios Pachiadakis Represents Greece at the 10th Beijing International Art Biennale 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n

Visual artist Nektarios Pachiadakis<\/strong> has been selected to represent Greece at the 10th Beijing International Art Biennale<\/strong>, to be held from December 29, 2024 to February 2, 2025<\/strong> in Beijing, with his work LivingStone \u2013 Moni Kapsa<\/em>. The work invites an international audience to reflect on climate change, environmental degradation, and entropy through a painterly rendering of the arid, rocky landscape of Crete.<\/p>\n

The diptych focuses on the materiality of stone, the traces of time, and the meticulous mapping of rock formations. Using earthy tones and an engraving-like brushwork, the artist highlights the relationship between matter and decay, the slow transformation of nature, and the tension between stability and chaos. His painting functions as an experiential dialogue with the Cretan landscape, where stone becomes an active carrier of experience, memory, and geological time.<\/p>\n

Pachiadakis graduated with distinction and an IKY (State Scholarships Foundation) scholarship<\/strong> from the School of Fine Arts of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki<\/strong>, and also completed with distinction and scholarship the postgraduate program \u201cAudiovisual Arts in the Digital Age\u201d<\/strong> at the Ionian University<\/strong>. He has been awarded the IKY Award of Excellence<\/strong>. His current artistic and research practice focuses on stone, geomorphology, tradition, and the psychogeography of Crete, expressed through painting, digital works, interactive art forms, and performative actions in natural environments. His works are included in public and private collections in Greece and abroad. One of his works has been awarded by the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle<\/strong> in Thessaloniki and is part of its permanent collection. His curriculum vitae includes four solo exhibitions as well as numerous participations in group exhibitions.<\/p>\n

\u201cStone\u2026 is a body that breathes slowly. Anyone who has walked through the rugged mountains of Crete will recognize in his works the morphology of the dry-stone terrain\u2026 The work does not depict, but shares the experience of being there. The theme of this year\u2019s Biennale, \u201cCoexistence,\u201d<\/strong> explores harmony and contrast between nature and humanity, tradition and technology, globalization and cultural specificity. The exhibition embraces both traditional and contemporary art forms \u2014 from painting to new media and interactive installations.<\/p>\n

Through his work, Nektarios Pachiadakis<\/strong> contributes to the international dialogue on how humanity coexists with time, nature, and their transformations, offering a profound, experiential perspective on the Cretan landscape and its timelessness.<\/p>\n
